Question Five

How did you attract/address your audience?

There are many ways to attract an audience to your magazine like having a cutting edge picture, bold and different colours for the font and showing things to win or get for free. I wanted to attract my target audience mainly by the design of my front cover because this page is what the audience is going to see first so therefore I wanted to make the front page really standing out then it gets their attention, them they will be more likely to be attracted to the magazine. To have a good image, my mast to stand then the audience know what magazine they are reading and the genre they are reading. With the image I used a prop and the prop was a guitar the reason I did that is because it hints that the magazine is a music one then the people who like music might be interested in the magazine, then the background of the image is like a rough brick wall to show that it is like getting the artist point across instead of a like a white background and I don't want a white background because it will be too professional and you don't get the artists point of view on their story, also this would be a lot more better for my target audience as well because they are young adults and they could be in there situation, so it could be inspiring towards the audience.

Also on my front cover, I added names of many different bands some were real bands and some of them weren't real this is to get, the bands that was real I used a similar font to the band so then the audience would be able so see them more clear and it would make the magazine more legit. With the different fake names I can make further expansion my target audience and with a further expansion to the audience more people will be attracted to the magazine.

Question Three

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

When I was creating my magazine, I wanted it to be aimed both genders. The reason why I did this is to create a big audience for my mag so this will mean that more people will like it. At the start of my creating of the magazine and a theme to the magazine because it was aimed at Brittan music with “The Who” theme about it, most of the magazine looks like the theme especially the front cover, which is suited for both of the genders This is because the theme included colours such as blue, white. These colours are built into the stereotype of people from Brittan, because the colours include the Brittan flag.
I want my magazine to be sold in the UK. This is mainly because of the theme that I have on my magazine. Also I have used the language English so therefore if I had it distributed anywhere like in Spain then they won’t read it because of the language and the theme of it. The best distributing company which would suit my media work would be companies such as IPC Media because the company is the UK's leading consumer magazine and digital publisher. Another reason why I like IPC Media to distribute is because this company already distributes magazines such as ‘NME and ‘Uncut’ and they are a similar genre to my magazine, So that’s why I think that’s the best option with the company having experience with the music magazines and many other different categories in this genre Also another good reason of using this distribution company is because it would be a competitive market and they are one of best distribution companies so the chances of my magazine will be more popular instead of going with a more lower down distribution company and then my magazine will be less likely to be popular in the market.

Generating a Frount cover

Production tips

Conception

I need to ensure that the images that I develop are appropriate for the product being constructed, so how I conceive of the intended images is paramount. Also I need to spend adequate time planning my images with planning my images I need to do a basic mock- up plan design for the front cover and other pages throughout the magazine, so I know where to place the images and I helps me get the right shot for the image places.

Framing and composition

This stage takes practice and I should expect to take far more images than I need. Framing can be adjusted through cropping at the editing stage , with good framing it leads to a better quality to the image. Me as the photographer, I am in complete control of the what the viewer sees so the shot types are vital, its good if I take many photos as I can to try and get the perfect photo for my music magazine.

Mise en scene

For the mise en scenes I will have to make sure what I have in the image like the right lighting, costumes, props, appearance, background imagery and colour. The reason why the mise en scenes is important is because it helps set the tone, emotion and meaning of the shot to the consumers.

This research has helped me plan out my magazine because it told me how many images I should take, mise en scenes included of the shots and not rushing onto the photos and do a mock up plan before them because I was just  going take the photos then go on the lay out of the magazine
